HeinOnline's newest database, GAO Reports and Comptroller General Decisions, is now available to Jenkins members!

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is "an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress." At the request of congressional committees and subcommittees, or when it is statutorily authorized, the GAO issues reports and decisions related to government spending. It "examines how taxpayer dollars are spent and provides Congress and federal agencies with objective, reliable information to help the government save money and work more efficiently."

The HeinOnline database contains decisions and opinions issued by the Comptroller General in areas of federal law such as appropriations, bid protests, and federal agency rulemaking. It includes all published reports, testimonies, correspondence, and special publications. Classified and restricted materials are not included. Reports and Testimonies are available from inception to date. Bid Protests, Appropriations Law, and Other Legal Work are available through 2008. HeinOnline is working to add 2009 to date and hopes to have these reports added in the near future.

This collection includes almost 50,000 titles organized by GAO Reports and Comptroller Decisions, Books, Serials, Legislative Histories, Congressional Hearings, Committee Prints, and CRS Reports. Users can browse the alphabetical listing or search the entire collection. Searching is enhanced by HeinOnline's metadata indexing.

For more information on this database, see HeinOnline's blog post.
