Antitrust Titles on West Academic and Law Journal Press

On Wednesday, the U.S. House Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee will hold an antitrust hearing with the CEOs of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. The hearing was originally scheduled for 7/27, but was rescheduled for the observance of Rep. John Lewis’ funeral (The Verge). The four tech giants are appearing in response to the Subcommittee’s ongoing antitrust investigation of online platforms and their market power. The hearing is intended to provide insight into the “adequacy of existing antitrust laws and enforcement” (judiciary.house.gov).

If you are working on an antitrust case, or hoping to brush up on the current law, check out the several antitrust titles available on West Academic Digital Library and Law Journal Press.

West Academic

Federal Antitrust Policy, The Law of Competition and Its Practice by Herbert Hovenkamp is a part of West Academic’s Hornbook series. The title covers nearly all the aspects of federal antitrust policy. It is also written to appeal to readers who do not have a strong economic background.

The Law of Antitrust, An Integrated Handbook by Sullivan, Grimes, and Sagers “provides a clear statement of the law, visits unresolved issues and areas of controversy, and provides a candid assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the various positions.”

Antitrust Basics by Thomas V. Vakerics is meant for use by both the new and experienced antitrust attorney. “It is intended to be basic in its approach toward the most elemental principles of antitrust law, yet comprehensive in terms of the broad scope of issues addressed and the extensive citation to case law affecting those issues.”

Antitrust: An Economic Approach by Richard A. Givens covers the dynamic of antitrust principles and how they can influence the economy. The title is divided into five parts: Foundations of Antitrust Law, Market Power, Restraints of Trade, Antitrust Immunities and Exemptions, and Enforcement and Defense.
