A Quick Run Through the Cheetah Practice Areas

  •

Cheetah is our latest addition to the onsite legal research databases available to Jenkins’ patrons. The database provides access to many of the CCH and Wolters Kluwer titles that you may be familiar with, such as Blue Sky Reporter, Federal Banking Law Reporter, and Wigmore on Evidence. One of the useful features of Cheetah is the organization of research tools and resources into Practice Areas. Practice Areas are provided for 21 different legal specializations, like Antitrust & Competition, Labor & Employment Law, Pension & Employee Benefits, and Securities Law.

The tools and resources available differ between each Practice Area Dashboard, but typically users can expect to find a Content table that includes relevant Treatises & Explanations, Acts & Statutes, Cases, and more.

The Citation Search is a useful tool that uses fill-in-the-blank fields customized for each Practice Area.

Citation fields are provided for statutes, cases, CCH paragraph numbers, and more.

Select dashboards also contain Practice Tools that include Smart Charts. The charts are a "workflow tool that enables you to create a fully customized chart based on selected litigation topics and jurisdictions. Quick results include a summary of the law in that circuit, along with links to analytical discussion in related treatises.” (Smart Charts)

News Headlines are provided in several dashboards as well. Users can find breaking news and a daily report of decisions and legislative developments.

Select dashboards also allow users to search for forms.

Browse through the Cheetah Practice Areas on your next visit to Jenkins. Our dedicated Cheetah workstation is located near the Reference Desk.
