Constitution Annotated Online

  •

The Library of Congress has launched a new website that offers online access to the Constitution Annotated. The Constitution Annotated provides analysis of the Constitution for Congress and the public. It outlines the Constitution in layman’s terms and uses Supreme Court caselaw and historical context to provide a comprehensive interpretation of the text. The publication is periodically updated by the Librarian of Congress and attorneys at the Congressional Research Service. Congress has authorized the revision of the Constitution Annotated through 2 U.S.C. §68

The new website makes the content more accessible to users and adds features such as search capability and hyperlinked citations.

The Library of Congress and Congressional Research Service have plans to further enhance the new site with a multi-year project to "better enhance its educational value to a broader audience and to reflect the most recent Supreme Court terms." For more information about the new site, visit the About the Constitution Annotated page.
