Year in Review: Jenkins Collection Growth for 2014
The staff at Jenkins continuously work to build our collection of print and electronic resources each year. Here are some of the collection highlights of 2014:
Our print collection grew by over 800 titles, some of which introduced new and/or emerging topics to the legal community like animal law, fashion law, and social media. Some of the more popular new titles of 2014 are Alternative Fees for Business Lawyers and Their Clients (ABA), Covenants Not to Compete: A State-by-State Survey (Bloomberg BNA), Fagnilli and Kosir on Deeds (PBI), How to Start and Run a Nonprofit (PBI), and The Legal Side of Blogging for Lawyers (ABA).
We now offer two new electronic databases: Loislaw Treatise Library and Philadelphia City Solicitor Opinions. The Loislaw Treatise Library provides our members with over 130 practice books covering more than 20 legal topics, all available on members' desktops. Titles include Business Torts: A Fifty State Guide, Drunk Driving Defense, Epstein on Intellectual Property, The Law of Lawyering, and Wigmore on Evidence. The Philadelphia City Solicitor Opinions database contains over 2,000 formal and informal opinions issued by the City Solicitor from 1952-2007.
New entries have been added to our Courts Records & Briefs Index and Pennsylvania Legislative Histories databases. Jenkins is a depository for Pennsylvania appellate level records and briefs, and materials given to us by the courts are added to our Courts Records & Briefs Index as they are received. Materials with 2014 docket numbers from the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth courts are now available. Librarians at Jenkins compile Pennsylvania Legislative Histories on an as-needed basis. Our Pennsylvania Legislative Histories database contains over 1300 compiled histories, 100 of which have been added this year.
Librarians are available via chat, phone, or email for more information regarding these or any of our other collection materials and databases.
