New Title on West Academic: A Brief American Legal History in a Nutshell

Interested in or need a quick refresher on American Legal History? West Academic Digital Library has recently added A Brief American Legal History in a Nutshell to its collection and is available with your Jenkins membership.

This nutshell book is a survey of the law and its influence throughout American history beginning in Colonial America. This title is accessible to not only those in the legal community, but to those also without a historical background or without law school training.

The title consists of 26 chapters, some focusing on Law in specific turning points in American history, such as Colonial America (Chapter 2), Law in Revolutionary America (Chapter 3), the Constitution (Chapter 4) and the Law in Post-Constitution America (Chapter 5), Law in the Civil War (Chapter 10), Reconstruction (Chapter 11) and the World Wars (Chapter 16). It also has a number of topic specific chapters, such as Race: From Brown to Affirmative Action (Chapter 18), Gender and the Law (Chapter 21), The Rise (and Fall?) of Environmental Law (Chapter 22), Terror, Patriotism, and Insurrection in the 21st Century (Chapter 23).
