Our Research Guides Have a New Look!

Our guides focus on how to access resources on a particular topic. They include links to free online resources; materials available on our members databases like HeinOnline, Law Journal Press, the LexisNexis Digital Library, and the West Academic Digital Library; materials available on our in house Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and VitalLaw computers; and texts and treatises we have in print. The guides are organized alphabetically, but users can also switch to By Subject to filter the guides by subjects like Federal, PA County Practice, PA Law, PA Subject Specific, and Trial Preparation.
We have close to 80 guides covering a wide range of topics, including primary law materials, secondary materials, trial practice, and specialized subject specific guides.
A number of our guides focus on the very basics of legal research, including how to find primary legal materials like statutes, regulations, court rules, and case law.
We have guides specific to Pennsylvania courts:

- United States Code (the federal statutes)
- Code of Federal Regulations and Federal Register (the federal regulations)
- Federal Court Rules
- Federal Caselaw
We also have guides that highlight key secondary materials and how to find them. These resources typically include large treatise and form sets. They usually provide an overview of the law in a particular area and may offer practical tips.
