New and Improved FCC Broadband Maps Now Available

  •

The FCC recently released a “pre-production draft” of its new broadband maps that show the coverage of broadband across the country. The new maps implement location-specific data collected from broadband providers. This new data source provides more accurate information about gaps in coverage than previous FCC maps that used census block data.

According to the FCC, “Broadband consumers are empowered like never before.” The new maps increase the transparency of broadband access and draw attention to gaps in coverage, which will create increased pressure on providers. The FCC also believes the maps will help influence policymakers to close the digital divide.

To search the maps, simply enter an address. For each served address, the maps display information about fixed and mobile broadband access.
