Sports Law Titles at Jenkins
The MLB regular season starts next week, and the Phillies play the Red Sox in their home opener on Monday, April 6, at Citizens Bank Park. Sports law is an expanding field, and Jenkins' sports law collection reflects this trend.
For those looking for a basic primer on sports law, Jenkins has Sports Law in a Nutshell, which summarizes topics such as contracts, antitrust, liability, drug testing, civil rights, and more. Larger treatises, such as Law of Professional and Amateur Sports and Sports Law Practice, are also available in print in the library, and Fundamentals of Sports Law is available on the library WestlawNext computers.
The American Bar Association has published numerous books in recent years that detail the cases and controversies surrounding specific sports, including The Little White Book of Baseball Law, The Little Book of Basketball Law, The Little Book of Golf Law, The Little Book of Horse Racing Law, and The Little Book of Skiing Law. Each chapter of these titles outlines a prominent case and its impact on the sport.
Membership databases also have useful sources. HeinOnline, available to most Jenkins members, has an extensive collection of sports law journals. And magazine and news articles are available on General OneFile and NewsBank, both available to all Jenkins members.
For assistance navigating these sources, Jenkins' members can contact our Reference Librarians at 215.574.1505, research@jenkinslaw.org, or chat.
